| 1:1 Vino palabra de Jehová a Jonás hijo de Amitai, diciendo: |
Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, |
וַיְהִי דְּבַר־יְהוָה אֶל־יֹונָה בֶן־אֲמִתַּי לֵאמֹר׃ |
| 1:2 Levántate y ve a Nínive, aquella gran ciudad, y pregona contra ella; porque ha subido su maldad delante de mí. |
Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. |
קוּם לֵךְ אֶל־נִינְוֵה הָעִיר הַגְּדֹולָה וּקְרָא עָלֶיהָ כִּי־עָלְתָה רָעָתָם לְפָנָי׃ |
| 1:3 Y Jonás se levantó para huir de la presencia de Jehová a Tarsis, y descendió a Jope, y halló una nave que partía para Tarsis; y pagando su pasaje, entró en ella para irse con ellos a Tarsis, lejos de la presencia de Jehová. |
But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. |
וַיָּקָם יֹונָה לִבְרֹחַ תַּרְשִׁישָׁה מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה וַיֵּרֶד יָפֹו וַיִּמְצָא אָנִיָּה בָּאָה תַרְשִׁישׁ וַיִּתֵּן שְׂכָרָהּ וַיֵּרֶד בָּהּ לָבֹוא עִמָּהֶם תַּרְשִׁישָׁה מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה׃ |
| 1:4 Pero Jehová hizo levantar un gran viento en el mar, y hubo en el mar una tempestad tan grande que se pensó que se partiría la nave. |
But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. |
וַיהוָה הֵטִיל רוּחַ־גְּדֹולָה אֶל־הַיָּם וַיְהִי סַעַר־גָּדֹול בַּיָּם וְהָאֳנִיָּה חִשְּׁבָה לְהִשָּׁבֵר׃ |
| 1:5 Y los marineros tuvieron miedo, y cada uno clamaba a su dios; y echaron al mar los enseres que había en la nave, para descargarla de ellos. Pero Jonás había bajado al interior de la nave, y se había echado a dormir. |
Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. |
וַיִּירְאוּ הַמַּלָּחִים וַיִּזְעֲקוּ אִישׁ אֶל־אֱלֹהָיו וַיָּטִלוּ אֶת־הַכֵּלִים אֲשֶׁר בָּאֳנִיָּה אֶל־הַיָּם לְהָקֵל מֵעֲלֵיהֶם וְיֹונָה יָרַד אֶל־יַרְכְּתֵי הַסְּפִינָה וַיִּשְׁכַּב וַיֵּרָדַם׃ |
| 1:6 Y el patrón de la nave se le acercó y le dijo: ¿Qué tienes, dormilón? Levántate, y clama a tu Dios; quizá él tendrá compasión de nosotros, y no pereceremos. |
So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. |
וַיִּקְרַב אֵלָיו רַב הַחֹבֵל וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו מַה־לְּךָ נִרְדָּם קוּם קְרָא אֶל־אֱלֹהֶיךָ אוּלַי יִתְעַשֵּׁת הָאֱלֹהִים לָנוּ וְלֹא נֹאבֵד׃ |
| 1:7 Y dijeron cada uno a su compañero: Venid y echemos suertes, para que sepamos por causa de quién nos ha venido este mal. Y echaron suertes, y la suerte cayó sobre Jonás. |
And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. |
וַיֹּאמְרוּ אִישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵהוּ לְכוּ וְנַפִּילָה גֹורָלֹות וְנֵדְעָה בְּשֶׁלְּמִי הָרָעָה הַזֹּאת לָנוּ וַיַּפִּלוּ גֹּורָלֹות וַיִּפֹּל הַגֹּורָל עַל־יֹונָה׃ |
| 1:8 Entonces le dijeron ellos: Decláranos ahora por qué nos ha venido este mal. ¿Qué oficio tienes, y de dónde vienes? ¿Cuál es tu tierra, y de qué pueblo eres? |
Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? |
וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו הַגִּידָה־נָּא לָנוּ בַּאֲשֶׁר לְמִי־הָרָעָה הַזֹּאת לָנוּ מַה־מְּלַאכְתְּךָ וּמֵאַיִן תָּבֹוא מָה אַרְצֶךָ וְאֵי־מִזֶּה עַם אָתָּה׃ |
| 1:9 Y él les respondió: Soy hebreo, y temo a Jehová, Dios de los cielos, que hizo el mar y la tierra. |
And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land. |
וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם עִבְרִי אָנֹכִי וְאֶת־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם אֲנִי יָרֵא אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה אֶת־הַיָּם וְאֶת־הַיַּבָּשָׁה׃ |
| 1:10 Y aquellos hombres temieron sobremanera, y le dijeron: ¿Por qué has hecho esto? Porque ellos sabían que huía de la presencia de Jehová, pues él se lo había declarado. |
Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. |
וַיִּירְאוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים יִרְאָה גְדֹולָה וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו מַה־זֹּאת עָשִׂיתָ כִּי־יָדְעוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים כִּי־מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה הוּא בֹרֵחַ כִּי הִגִּיד לָהֶם׃ |
| 1:11 Y le dijeron: ¿Qué haremos contigo para que el mar se nos aquiete? Porque el mar se iba embraveciendo más y más. |
Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. |
וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה לָּךְ וְיִשְׁתֹּק הַיָּם מֵעָלֵינוּ כִּי הַיָּם הֹולֵךְ וְסֹעֵר׃ |
| 1:12 El les respondió: Tomadme y echadme al mar, y el mar se os aquietará; porque yo sé que por mi causa ha venido esta gran tempestad sobre vosotros. |
And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. |
וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם שָׂאוּנִי וַהֲטִילֻנִי אֶל־הַיָּם וְיִשְׁתֹּק הַיָּם מֵעֲלֵיכֶם כִּי יֹודֵעַ אָנִי כִּי בְשֶׁלִּי הַסַּעַר הַגָּדֹול הַזֶּה עֲלֵיכֶם׃ |
| 1:13 Y aquellos hombres trabajaron para hacer volver la nave a tierra; mas no pudieron, porque el mar se iba embraveciendo más y más contra ellos. |
Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them. |
וַיַּחְתְּרוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים לְהָשִׁיב אֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁה וְלֹא יָכֹלוּ כִּי הַיָּם הֹולֵךְ וְסֹעֵר עֲלֵיהֶם׃ |
| 1:14 Entonces clamaron a Jehová y dijeron: Te rogamos ahora, Jehová, que no perezcamos nosotros por la vida de este hombre, ni pongas sobre nosotros la sangre inocente; porque tú, Jehová, has hecho como has querido. |
Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee. |
וַיִּקְרְאוּ אֶל־יְהוָה וַיֹּאמְרוּ אָנָּה יְהוָה אַל־נָא נֹאבְדָה בְּנֶפֶשׁ הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה וְאַל־תִּתֵּן עָלֵינוּ דָּם נָקִיא כִּי־אַתָּה יְהוָה כַּאֲשֶׁר חָפַצְתָּ עָשִׂיתָ׃ |
| 1:15 Y tomaron a Jonás, y lo echaron al mar; y el mar se aquietó de su furor. |
So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. |
וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֶת־יֹונָה וַיְטִלֻהוּ אֶל־הַיָּם וַיַּעֲמֹד הַיָּם מִזַּעְפֹּו׃ |
| 1:16 Y temieron aquellos hombres a Jehová con gran temor, y ofrecieron sacrificio a Jehová, e hicieron votos. |
Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows. |
וַיִּירְאוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים יִרְאָה גְדֹולָה אֶת־יְהוָה וַיִּזְבְּחוּ־זֶבַח לַיהוָה וַיִּדְּרוּ נְדָרִים׃ |
| 1:17 Pero Jehová tenía preparado un "gran pez" (Ketos) que tragase a Jonás; y estuvo Jonás en el vientre del pez tres días y tres noches. |
Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. |
וַיְמַן יְהוָה דָּג גָּדֹול לִבְלֹעַ אֶת־יֹונָה וַיְהִי יֹונָה בִּמְעֵי הַדָּג שְׁלֹשָׁה יָמִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה לֵילֹות׃ |
| 2:1 Entonces oró Jonás a Jehová su Dios desde el vientre del pez, |
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, |
וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל יֹונָה אֶל־יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו מִמְּעֵי הַדָּגָה׃ |
| 2:2 y dijo: Invoqué en mi angustia a Jehová, y él me oyó; Desde el seno del Seol clamé, Y mi voz oíste. |
And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. |
וַיֹּאמֶר קָרָאתִי מִצָּרָה לִי אֶל־יְהוָה וַיַּעֲנֵנִי מִבֶּטֶן שְׁאֹול שִׁוַּעְתִּי שָׁמַעְתָּ קֹולִי׃ |
| 2:3 Me echaste a lo profundo, en medio de los mares, Y me rodeó la corriente; Todas tus ondas y tus olas pasaron sobre mí. |
For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. |
וַתַּשְׁלִיכֵנִי מְצוּלָה בִּלְבַב יַמִּים וְנָהָר יְסֹבְבֵנִי כָּל־מִשְׁבָּרֶיךָ וְגַלֶּיךָ עָלַי עָבָרוּ׃ |
| 2:4 Entonces dije: Desechado soy de delante de tus ojos; Mas aún veré tu santo templo. |
Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. |
וַאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי נִגְרַשְׁתִּי מִנֶּגֶד עֵינֶיךָ אַךְ אֹוסִיף לְהַבִּיט אֶל־הֵיכַל קָדְשֶׁךָ׃ |
| 2:5 Las aguas me rodearon hasta el alma, Rodeóme el abismo; El alga se enredó a mi cabeza. |
The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. |
אֲפָפוּנִי מַיִם עַד־נֶפֶשׁ תְּהֹום יְסֹבְבֵנִי סוּף חָבוּשׁ לְרֹאשִׁי׃ |
| 2:6 Descendí a los cimientos de los montes; La tierra echó sus cerrojos sobre mí para siempre; Mas tú sacaste mi vida de la sepultura, oh Jehová Dios mío. |
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. |
לְקִצְבֵי הָרִים יָרַדְתִּי הָאָרֶץ בְּרִחֶיהָ בַעֲדִי לְעֹולָם וַתַּעַל מִשַּׁחַת חַיַּי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי׃ |
| 2:7 Cuando mi alma desfallecía en mí, me acordé de Jehová, Y mi oración llegó hasta ti en tu santo templo. |
When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. |
בְּהִתְעַטֵּף עָלַי נַפְשִׁי אֶת־יְהוָה זָכָרְתִּי וַתָּבֹוא אֵלֶיךָ תְּפִלָּתִי אֶל־הֵיכַל קָדְשֶׁךָ׃ |
| 2:8 Los que siguen vanidades ilusorias, Su misericordia abandonan. |
They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. |
מְשַׁמְּרִים הַבְלֵי־שָׁוְא חַסְדָּם יַעֲזֹבוּ׃ |
| 2:9 Mas yo con voz de alabanza te ofreceré sacrificios; Pagaré lo que prometí. La salvación es de Jehová. |
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. |
וַאֲנִי בְּקֹול תֹּודָה אֶזְבְּחָה־לָּךְ אֲשֶׁר נָדַרְתִּי אֲשַׁלֵּמָה יְשׁוּעָתָה לַיהוָה׃ ס |
| 2:10 Y mandó Jehová al pez, y vomitó a Jonás en tierra. |
And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. |
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה לַדָּג וַיָּקֵא אֶת־יֹונָה אֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁה׃ פ |
| 3:1 Vino palabra de Jehová por segunda vez a Jonás, diciendo: |
And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, |
וַיְהִי דְבַר־יְהוָה אֶל־יֹונָה שֵׁנִית לֵאמֹר׃ |
| 3:2 Levántate y ve a Nínive, aquella gran ciudad, y proclama en ella el mensaje que yo te diré. |
Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. |
קוּם לֵךְ אֶל־נִינְוֵה הָעִיר הַגְּדֹולָה וִּקְרָא אֵלֶיהָ אֶת־הַקְּרִיאָה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי דֹּבֵר אֵלֶיךָ׃ |
| 3:3 Y se levantó Jonás, y fue a Nínive conforme a la palabra de Jehová. Y era Nínive ciudad grande en extremo, de tres días de camino. |
So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. |
וַיָּקָם יֹונָה וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל־נִינְוֶה כִּדְבַר יְהוָה וְנִינְוֵה הָיְתָה עִיר־גְּדֹולָה לֵאלֹהִים מַהֲלַךְ שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים׃ |
| 3:4 Y comenzó Jonás a entrar por la ciudad, camino de un día, y predicaba diciendo: De aquí a cuarenta días Nínive será destruida. |
And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. |
וַיָּחֶל יֹונָה לָבֹוא בָעִיר מַהֲלַךְ יֹום אֶחָד וַיִּקְרָא וַיֹּאמַר עֹוד אַרְבָּעִים יֹום וְנִינְוֵה נֶהְפָּכֶת׃ |
| 3:5 Y los hombres de Nínive creyeron a Dios, y proclamaron ayuno, y se vistieron de cilicio desde el mayor hasta el menor de ellos. |
So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. |
וַיַּאֲמִינוּ אַנְשֵׁי נִינְוֵה בֵּאלֹהִים וַיִּקְרְאוּ־צֹום וַיִּלְבְּשׁוּ שַׂקִּים מִגְּדֹולָם וְעַד־קְטַנָּם׃ |
| 3:6 Y llegó la noticia hasta el rey de Nínive, y se levantó de su silla, se despojó de su vestido, y se cubrió de cilicio y se sentó sobre ceniza. |
For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. |
וַיִּגַּע הַדָּבָר אֶל־מֶלֶך נִינְוֵה וַיָּקָם מִכִּסְאֹו וַיַּעֲבֵר אַדַּרְתֹּו מֵעָלָיו וַיְכַס שַׂק וַיֵּשֶׁב עַל־הָאֵפֶר׃ |
| 3:7 E hizo proclamar y anunciar en Nínive, por mandato del rey y de sus grandes, diciendo: Hombres y animales, bueyes y ovejas, no gusten cosa alguna; no se les dé alimento, ni beban agua; |
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: |
וַיַּזְעֵק וַיֹּאמֶר בְּנִינְוֵה מִטַּעַם הַמֶּלֶךְ וּגְדֹלָיו לֵאמֹר הָאָדָם וְהַבְּהֵמָה הַבָּקָר וְהַצֹּאן אַל־יִטְעֲמוּ מְאוּמָה אַל־יִרְעוּ וּמַיִם אַל־יִשְׁתּוּ׃ |
| 3:8 sino cúbranse de cilicio hombres y animales, y clamen a Dios fuertemente; y conviértase cada uno de su mal camino, de la rapiña que hay en sus manos. |
But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. |
וְיִתְכַּסּוּ שַׂקִּים הָאָדָם וְהַבְּהֵמָה וְיִקְרְאוּ אֶל־אֱלֹהִים בְּחָזְקָה וְיָשֻׁבוּ אִישׁ מִדַּרְכֹּו הָרָעָה וּמִן־הֶחָמָס אֲשֶׁר בְּכַפֵּיהֶם׃ |
| 3:9 ¿Quién sabe si se volverá y se arrepentirá Dios, y se apartará del ardor de su ira, y no pereceremos? |
Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? |
מִי־יֹודֵעַ יָשׁוּב וְנִחַם הָאֱלֹהִים וְשָׁב מֵחֲרֹון אַפֹּו וְלֹא נֹאבֵד׃ |
| 3:10 Y vio Dios lo que hicieron, que se convirtieron de su mal camino; y se arrepintió del mal que había dicho que les haría, y no lo hizo. |
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. |
וַיַּרְא הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת־מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם כִּי־שָׁבוּ מִדַּרְכָּם הָרָעָה וַיִּנָּחֶם הָאֱלֹהִים עַל־הָרָעָה אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר לַעֲשֹׂות־לָהֶם וְלֹא עָשָׂה׃ |
| 4:1 Pero Jonás se apesadumbró en extremo, y se enojó. |
But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. |
וַיֵּרַע אֶל־יֹונָה רָעָה גְדֹולָה וַיִּחַר לֹו׃ |
| 4:2 Y oró a Jehová y dijo: Ahora, oh Jehová, ¿no es esto lo que yo decía estando aún en mi tierra? Por eso me apresuré a huir a Tarsis; porque sabía yo que tú eres Dios clemente y piadoso, tardo en enojarte, y de grande misericordia, y que te arrepientes del mal. |
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. |
וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל אֶל־יְהוָה וַיֹּאמַר אָנָּה יְהוָה הֲלֹוא־זֶה דְבָרִי עַד־הֱיֹותִי עַל־אַדְמָתִי עַל־כֵּן קִדַּמְתִּי לִבְרֹחַ תַּרְשִׁישָׁה כִּי יָדַעְתִּי כִּי אַתָּה אֵל־חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וְרַב־חֶסֶד וְנִחָם עַל־הָרָעָה׃ |
| 4:3 Ahora pues, oh Jehová, te ruego que me quites la vida; porque mejor me es la muerte que la vida. |
Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live. |
וְעַתָּה יְהוָה קַח־נָא אֶת־נַפְשִׁי מִמֶּנִּי כִּי טֹוב מֹותִי מֵחַיָּי׃ ס |
| 4:4 Y Jehová le dijo: ¿Haces tú bien en enojarte tanto? |
Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry? |
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה הַהֵיטֵב חָרָה לָךְ׃ |
| 4:5 Y salió Jonás de la ciudad, y acampó hacia el oriente de la ciudad, y se hizo allí una enramada, y se sentó debajo de ella a la sombra, hasta ver qué acontecería en la ciudad. |
So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city. |
וַיֵּצֵא יֹונָה מִן־הָעִיר וַיֵּשֶׁב מִקֶּדֶם לָעִיר וַיַּעַשׂ לֹו שָׁם סֻכָּה וַיֵּשֶׁב תַּחְתֶּיהָ בַּצֵּל עַד אֲשֶׁר יִרְאֶה מַה־יִּהְיֶה בָּעִיר׃ |
| 4:6 Y preparó Jehová Dios una calabacera, la cual creció sobre Jonás para que hiciese sombra sobre su cabeza, y le librase de su malestar; y Jonás se alegró grandemente por la calabacera. |
And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. |
וַיְמַן יְהוָה־אֱלֹהִים קִיקָיֹון וַיַּעַל מֵעַל לְיֹונָה לִהְיֹות צֵל עַל־רֹאשֹׁו לְהַצִּיל לֹו מֵרָעָתֹו וַיִּשְׂמַח יֹונָה עַל־הַקִּיקָיֹון שִׂמְחָה גְדֹולָה׃ |
| 4:7 Pero al venir el alba del día siguiente, Dios preparó un gusano, el cual hirió la calabacera, y se secó. |
But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. |
וַיְמַן הָאֱלֹהִים תֹּולַעַת בַּעֲלֹות הַשַּׁחַר לַמָּחֳרָת וַתַּךְ אֶת־הַקִּיקָיֹון וַיִּיבָשׁ׃ |
| 4:8 Y aconteció que al salir el sol, preparó Dios un recio viento solano, y el sol hirió a Jonás en la cabeza, y se desmayaba, y deseaba la muerte, diciendo: Mejor sería para mí la muerte que la vida. |
And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. |
וַיְהִי כִּזְרֹחַ הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ וַיְמַן אֱלֹהִים רוּחַ קָדִים חֲרִישִׁית וַתַּךְ הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ עַל־רֹאשׁ יֹונָה וַיִּתְעַלָּף וַיִּשְׁאַל אֶת־נַפְשֹׁו לָמוּת וַיֹּאמֶר טֹוב מֹותִי מֵחַיָּי׃ |
| 4:9 Entonces dijo Dios a Jonás: ¿Tanto te enojas por la calabacera? Y él respondió: Mucho me enojo, hasta la muerte. |
And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death. |
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־יֹונָה הַהֵיטֵב חָרָה־לְךָ עַל־הַקִּיקָיֹון וַיֹּאמֶר הֵיטֵב חָרָה־לִי עַד־מָוֶת׃ |
| 4:10 Y dijo Jehová: Tuviste tú lástima de la calabacera, en la cual no trabajaste, ni tú la hiciste crecer; que en espacio de una noche nació, y en espacio de otra noche pereció. |
Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: |
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אַתָּה חַסְתָּ עַל־הַקִּיקָיֹון אֲשֶׁר לֹא־עָמַלְתָּ בֹּו וְלֹא גִדַּלְתֹּו שֶׁבִּן־לַיְלָה הָיָה וּבִן־לַיְלָה אָבָד׃ |
| 4:11 ¿Y no tendré yo piedad de Nínive, aquella gran ciudad donde hay más de ciento veinte mil personas que no saben discernir entre su mano derecha y su mano izquierda, y muchos animales? |
And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle? |
וַאֲנִי לֹא אָחוּס עַל־נִינְוֵה הָעִיר הַגְּדֹולָה אֲשֶׁר יֶשׁ־בָּהּ הַרְבֵּה מִשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵה רִבֹּו אָדָם אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָדַע בֵּין־יְמִינֹו לִשְׂמֹאלֹו וּבְהֵמָה רַבָּה׃ |
